VEO RECORDING AND VIDEO ANALYSIS Policy

Introduction

Sporting Club Merseyside (SCM) is committed to providing a safe, positive, and development-focused environment for all players. As part of our commitment to improving the coaching experience and supporting player development, the club uses Veo camera technology to record selected training sessions and matches.

This policy explains how video footage is collected, used, stored, and shared.

Purpose Of Recording

The primary purpose of recording football activity is to support:

  • Player development
  • Coach education and development
  • Tactical and technical analysis
  • Team performance review
  • Match and training session reflection

Video footage is used to enhance learning and provide players and coaches with valuable feedback that may not be possible through observation alone.

HOW FOOTAGE IS COLLECTED

SCM uses Veo, an AI-powered football camera system that automatically records football matches and training sessions.

Recordings may take place during:

  • League matches
  • Cup matches
  • Friendly matches
  • Training sessions

Not all sessions will be recorded.

Use Of Footage

Footage may be viewed by:

  • SCM coaches and club officials
  • Players and parents within the relevant team
  • Designated club volunteers and coaches assisting with analysis
  • Opposition teams where appropriate and requested

Footage will only be used for legitimate football, coaching, educational, safeguarding, or administrative purposes.

Under no circumstances will footage be used to embarrass, ridicule, or publicly criticise players, coaches, referees, or spectators.

Sharing Of Footage

SCM recognises the importance of transparency and fair play.

In line with football best practice, footage may be shared with:

  • Opposition teams upon reasonable request
  • League or County FA officials where required
  • Referees, disciplinary panels, or safeguarding authorities where appropriate
  • Insurance providers or legal representatives where required in relation to an incident

Any sharing of footage will be carried out responsibly and in accordance with safeguarding and data protection requirements.

Safeguarding

The welfare of children remains the club’s highest priority.

All recordings will be handled in accordance with:

  • FA Safeguarding Policies
  • FA Photography and Filming Guidance
  • UK GDPR
  • Data Protection Act 2018

The introduction of Veo technology does not alter SCM’s safeguarding responsibilities.

Any concerns regarding the use of footage should be reported to the Club Welfare Officer.

Storage and Security

Video recordings are stored securely through the Veo platform and any authorised club systems.

Access is restricted to authorised individuals who require access for legitimate club purposes.

SCM will take reasonable steps to ensure footage is protected against unauthorised access, misuse, or distribution.

Retention of Footage

Footage will be retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for coaching, development, safeguarding, administrative, or legal purposes.

Recordings may be deleted when they are no longer required.

Parent and Player Queries

SCM understands that parents and players may have questions regarding the recording and use of footage.

Any questions, concerns, or requests relating to this policy should be directed to:
